Native to Asia, Apricot is related to Cherry, and tends to be heavier and harder than Cherry, and much more scarce. Sizes are minimal, so Apricot uses are primarily for smaller, more decorative purposes. Apricot heartwood is light brown, sometimes with a reddish or orangish cast and darker brown streaks are frequent. The sapwood is generally thin and is slightly paler than the heartwood.
